Is the study actually about NAD+, a precursor, or a different formulation and route?
What is it?
NAD+ is nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a coenzyme involved in cellular chemistry. It is not a peptide, and NAD+ should not be confused with related precursor molecules such as NMN or NR.
What has been studied?
A 2019 pilot study tracked changes in plasma and urine NAD-related metabolites during and after an NAD+ infusion. It was an exploratory metabolism study, not a demonstration that a commercial spray improves cognition, energy or lifespan. [sources]
This is a selected reading guide, not a systematic review or a complete account of every study. The linked paper is the place to check methods, participants, funding and the full discussion.
What the evidence does not establish
A molecule’s normal role in the body does not prove a benefit from adding more. Studies of different precursors, routes and formulations answer different questions. Biomarker changes do not establish meaningful improvements in health. [sources]
